April 7-10, 2010
Denver, Colorado
Hyatt Regency Denver & Colorado Convention Center
A Rattle Reading: Cowboy & Western Poetry
Description: The image of the cowboy has long been mythologized, and so, too, has the image of the cowboy poem. Modern cowboy and western poetry is as complicated and eclectic as the modern cowboy--there are plenty of appearances by cattle and corrals, but topics range from love and politics to ecology and philosophy. And while some of the poems speak in meter and rhyme, plenty of others roam wild and free. Six diverse poets from Rattle's Tribute to Cowboy and Western Poetry perform their work.
Participants: Jeff Streeby, JV Brummels, Donald Williams, Lisa Lewis, David Romtvedt, Joshua Dolezal
